Unit Details | | | | Bedrooms: 3 | Bathrooms: 2 | Sleeps: 6 | | Unit Type: House | | | | | | Come and enjoy the best views and biggest sandy beach on Bainbridge Island. The house, the patio, and English gardens all face directly south, making breakfast, lunch, dinner and barbeques outside so pleasant. When sea breezes cool the evening temperatures, the concrete patio continues to radiate the day’s heat all evening long. There is also a wood burning fireplace in the living room and moveable firebox outside. Custom built, contemporary waterfront home with easy beach access. Upstairs there are three full size bedrooms -two with queen size beds and one double bed. There are two and half baths, which include a Jacuzzi style tub in the master bathroom. The master bedroom also enjoys a gas fireplace. All bedrooms have equal access to the upper deck. Downstairs living is very much focused around the great room - living room, dining room and kitchen, all facing the beach. For quite time or TV time, simply retreat to the library / den. The shelves are full of books. There is also a DVD player, CD’s and VCR along with surround sound. The laundry room is also on the main floor. Bring your binoculars and keep the tide book handy as the beach is magical at low tide, particularly for those who are lucky enough to visit during really low minus tide days. On such days a Winslow beach hike is possible (6-7 miles round trip.) Start about 1.5 hours before the low tide point and walk south along the beach. Reward yourself with coffee and cakes at the bakery in Winslow and then hike back along Ferncliff Rd. Alternatively scramble north along the beach towards Skiff Point where the most amazing tide pools open up on minus tide days. A sand bar is also exposed - a good salmon fishing spot. Ride bikes, watch the amazing bird life, or marine traffic. Sea otters and killer whale are also occasional visitors to the bay. Catch Dungeness crab (June / September) – it can be done even without a boat and we will leave instructions on some of the best spots to find them. You do need to a purchase a license and know which days are open and which are closed to harvest. The 4th of July is a great day to be on Bainbridge Island – a big parade, parties, and booths, plus Manitou beach house is the place to be at nighttime. You can view both of the Seattle firework shows from the patio and this neighborhood closes the road to launch its own fireworks. It’s like living inside a giant firework display. Beach Contemporary is a very special home designed by the owners' architect son for his parents. It’s full of fine custom details and the owners' art and treasures collected during their many adventures overseas. Come and enjoy this great spot whilst they sail the Mediterranean this summer.
